President Linda Connelly has served on the HR Condominium Board since 2008 and as our Secretary for five years. Linda is a retired medical Information Technologist. As an avid life-long learner with a passion for helping non-traditional students, she has been a Literacy Volunteer since 1999. She and her husband, Dennis, purchased their first timeshare property at Harbor Ridge in 1999, and they consider Southwest Harbor their “second home.” They also own timeshare in Ireland, Cape Cod, and to increase options for their traveling opportunities, they also own points with Diamond Resorts. Their vacation ownerships, coupled with their Interval International membership, have opened up incredible travel opportunities at reasonable costs. With multiple timeshare ownerships and travel experiences gathered, she vows to continue working hard to ensure that Harbor Ridge remains a premier vacation destination.
Treasurer Janet Franz has been a Week 16 owner at Harbor Ridge since September 1992 and she also owns Week 20-Even. Her family enjoys their timeshare each year at Harbor Ridge, along with some exchanging and cruising. She has served on the Harbor Ridge Board of Directors since 2003. Jan earned her Associate Degree in Business Management from the University of Maine, and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Husson College. Jan is an accountant for the Penobscot Valley Federal Credit Union, and she assists with her husband’s property maintenance business. Jan has served as the financial secretary for the Redeemer Lutheran Church, and she has done volunteer income taxes through the VITA program. Jan resides in Bangor with her husband, Ken. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Secretary Dianne Lytle has served on the HR Condominium Board since 2008. She bought her timeshare during construction. She has used it several times at the resort and trades it frequently through the Interval International exchange system to travel to many parts of the world. Maintaining premier status with Interval is a top priority for her, while preserving our excellent trading options. Dianne summers on Mount Desert Island and now resides in South Carolina. She brings to the Board knowledge of local issues and laws, as well as information for guests about restaurants, recreational activities, and opportunities in Acadia National Park. Prior to retirement, Dianne was a registered nurse at the Mount Desert Island Hospital.
Jim Nicholson has owned and vacationed at Harbor Ridge since 1993. He is a certified public accountant from Waterville, who works tirelessly to bring his expertise and caring to his clients and his community. He was named Accountant Advocate of the Year for New England by the US Small Business Administration and was named Business of the Year by the Waterville Business and Professional Women’s Organization. Having served on boards for the Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, the ACLU of Maine, the Waterville Development Corporation, and Delta Ambulance, he feels his experience would be valuable to keep the resort in good financial health.
Jay Hewett and his wife, Nancy, have been regular and enthusiastic visitors to Mount Desert Island for over 50 years. Their long-term desire to have a place on MDI was satisfied when they became owners at Harbor Ridge in approximately 2000 via the purchase of two half-weeks in October. In 2008, they added a full week 22. Like many owners, they use their weeks at Harbor Ridge rather than exchanging them for vacations to other places. Jay wants to maintain the quality and excellent value of ownership at Harbor Ridge. Jay is a retired Civil Engineer with a specialty in environmental engineering applied over a 42-year career spent mostly at the Portland Water District and at several Maine consulting firms. He has been an avid aviator since 1988, and has recently completed construction of a Sonex, kit-built airplane. The Hewetts reside in Cumberland, Maine.
